The Science Education Institute for Leadership Development and Strategic Planning guides leadership teams through the rigorous process of developing tailored, strategic plans for implementing a science education program that brings about systemic reform of science education for their districts, states, or countries. In doing so, participants can hope to accomplish the following:
 

• Discuss the implications of learning, teaching, and implentation of a new science curriculum

• Identify the five elements of the SSEC’s systemic reform model

• Develop a new vision of inquiry-based, hands-on science education

• Participate in a simulation investigating how individuals view change

• Develop strategies for instigating change

• Develop a system-wide, five-year strategic plan for improving K-12 science education programs

• Exchange knowledge with other professionals committed to improving education for all students
